Garden Soil Ready for Transplanting

I just finished tilling the rest of the garden today and I only started yesterday doing as much as I could.  Luckily weather was really good today and needed to complete tilling the whole garden in order to place my plants in the soil.

I wasn't able to put my plants in the soil just yet, but I did start digging holes for them which is what I like to do before moving plants into the garden.  Not all the holes are ready for all of my plants, but I did get the majority of them ready for when I begin transplanting them.

I also made sure that I stayed away from my spring crops which are still growing and are continuing the produce a decent harvest.  I have only picked my lettuce so far, but they are still producing leaves which I should begin picking more of them sometime soon.

The leaves on this plant are fine it just has some apple blossom petals on it which make it look kind of weird.  Unfortunately there is a tree next to it which I cannot do anything about and the petals fall in the garden.  I should soon pick some more of these leaves along with many others very soon.

Tilling a New Spot for Strawberry Plants

I decided that yesterday was warm enough to get some tilling done for the upcoming spring months and harvest.  I am looking to plant some seeds of spinach, radishes, celery, peas, and potatoes.  I also have been growing lettuce plants indoors this season to transplant them in the garden when the weather is a little bit warmer.  Right now the temperature is still below freezing which these plants don't tolerate well.

This is where I plan on putting my spring plants and seeds for this year.  This should be enough room to plant all of them.

I also found a perfect spot for my strawberry plants this year.  My onions that were grown in the garden the past couple of years is where I am going to put my new strawberry plants.  It is a big enough area where I will have enough room to put my strawberries and even more if I wanted to add more plants to this section.

I hope to put my strawberry plants in the garden very soon since they have been sitting in a bucket of water for a couple of weeks.  I have been putting them outside in order to harden them off, but I want to see some consistent warm weather before planting them.

Tilling the Garden Completed Along with Spinach Harvesting

This week has been busy with the tilling of the garden which took a few days and picking many rocks that needed to be removed from the garden.  This is something I started this year in order to remove as many rocks as possible while I was tilling.  Some of them prevented the tiller from doing its job and I had to remove it.  This way next season there should be less rocks to deal with and it won't take as long to till.

Anyway it got done and below is the result of tilling the garden.

Spinach has been growing quite well especially with all the fertilizers and water that I have been giving it.  It has been using it to grown dark green and beautiful leaves that have been quite delicious.  They have not been bitter either which can happen with too much nitrogen.

34 leaves and a half a pound is what was picked up this past weekend.  It doesn't sound like much, but trust me with leaves of this size they will last for a few weeks at least.
